BQ76PL455A-Q1: Failure of BQ76PL455A-Q1

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1

Hello sir,

I am using BQ76PL455A-q1 in my design. I am continuously facing the problem of IC failure. Sometime Vsense Pins get shorted together or some times VP pin Get shorted with ground.

I am sharing my design. Please look at the design and help me to troubleshot the IC failure. cell balancing.pdf

  • VP is 0 when IC is not wake. One way to check it Check v5VA0 voltage.
May I ask what do you mean by Vsense pins are shorted?

    My comments and inputs
    1. Can you tell me how you wake up the IC? Does IC ever wakes up?
    2. Try without R163, R158 and etc... remove those resistors.
    3. I don't like CHP3462 FET. Vgs is 10V. 20V will be good. IF not then add zener.
    4. Connect cells from top to bottom.
    5. What is the purpose of C68, C66 and etc... If you a cap then add diff cap between cells.
    6. How do you control VIO. What is the status of VIO? VIO can not be low stage if you are trying wo wake up the device. Check datasheet 7.3.1.1.7

Does IC ever worked or not working at all?
I am assuming you are using your own software?

Try my recommendation and let me know.
