BQ76200: B76200 QDischarge/Charge MOSFET placement

Part Number: BQ76200

Dear Sir/Ms.

Datasheet page 15 shows the image below.

But the text description is "The PCHG output can be used to control an external P-channel FET placed in parallel with the
DSG FET to pre-discharge the residual voltage in order to speed up the fault recovery process.
So is the Mosfet drawing wrong?
What direction should Diode be in? Blue or Red?

Best Regards,

Kami Huang

  • Hi Kami,
The illustrator used the wrong symbol for the FET. An N-channel is pictured rather than the P-channel described. The diode is in the proper orientation, but the source is on the left and the drain on the right in Figure 10 above, also the arrow should point away from the channel and the gate connection exit near the source in most typical symbols. Figure 9 shows the proper FET symbol, but the Rpchg would be replaced by the Rpdsg resistor and connection of figure 10.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I will get it marked for correction in a future update.
