BQ78PL116: Bq78pl116 short circuit Test

Hi

iam using 14s32p battery pack. but while performing the short circuit test the various flags are ON mentioned below:

EUV

CUV

PV

cell 1 voltage 2000mV

cell 2 voltage 2000mV 

 But actual voltage of cell 1 and cell 2 is 3982mV & 3978mV. the remaining cell voltage is correct.

still  i am able to communicate with the IC.

This is happens 4th times when due to short circuit test iam getting 2000mV  then i need to change the IC.

But i am failed to understand why bq78pl116 unable to provide short circuit protection.

Even failed to achieve short circuit at 32 amps.

    Somehow you are breaking the bq78PL116 during the short circuit test. Check if voltages are going negative or large transients are reaching the IC. Since the remaining devices read correctly and communication continues, the concern would seem to be with the VSS and sense connections, but also check V1 and V2. The bq78PL116 supports short circuit, you can confirm operation by applying an appropriate mV level to the sense input, but the part can not accept all possible transients.

    Above solution doesn't resolve my problem while performing the short circuit.
    Also check V1 and V2 its Ok.
    After every short circuit test i observed.
    EUV.
    CUV.
    But actual voltage is around 3.9V

    You voltage after the test is 3.9V, but do you know the voltage during the test? You must find this and be sure it does not violate the limits of the part. A 32p battery will have a large physical structure and may be capable of very high currents and have large inductive responses to the currents. Be sure you have implemented the recommended filter circuit and connections. You may have to implement other filtering for your design, but remember that the bq78PL116 is intended to connect directly to the cells, so you will not be able to isolate with resistances. Also look at the voltage between the sense inputs and the bottom cell input.
    You must find it in your system and stop the transient before the IC.
