BQ24780SEVM-583: The DisCharge current value is set to 512ma but the actual discharge current reading shows more than that

When I enter Discharge Current limit in the BqStudio does it limit the discharge current actually ? I was setting the discharge current to different values but the current pulled by the load doesnt change based on the limit i set it to be . Kindly let me know if i need to change any registers . I enabled the discharge current limit register as mentioned in the manual .Thanks.

Naveesh,

This is because your loading does not reach the point that requires discharge current regulation. You can try to increase the load and check the actual discharge current measurement.

Hi Eric

My discharge current was set to be 512 ma . The load was pulling 3 amps . Do I need to change any other settings in the register . Also during charge . I set the charge voltage to be 14.6V for a 4s1p Lifepo4 Battery and charge current to be 1024 ma . But it never charges to the capacity (14.6V) . It stops around 13.4-13.5 V in less than 10-15 minutes. Is there any charger timeout value I need to clear . My input voltage at Vin is 19.5 V .
