BQ24192: Disconnecting VBUS - supplying only from battery

Part Number: BQ24192

Hi,

I am having issues while working with capacitive sensor when my device is connected to USB. I'm using BQ24192, and his VBUS is connected to USB. Sensor is working when device is supplying only from battery (USB is disconnected). So, I have question, is there way to disconnect VBUS from software (while USB is attached), and to supply device only from battery?

  • Hello Nenad,

In order to isolate the input from the device, you can place the device into HIZ mode by setting REG00[7]. Note that the way to clear HIZ is by the host clearing this bit, when device is in host mode. If the device is in default mode, HIZ is cleared upon reinsertion of the input. During HIZ, the system is powered by the battery.

  • Thank you very much, Fernando, I will do that. We have another TI battery gauge BQ27742 which is in communication with this chip (i don't know exact part number) so I will try this.

    Best regards

    Nenad
