TPS61232: Short Circuit Output Current and internal FET

Part Number: TPS61232

I am using the TPS61232 in a typical application for 2.3 V to 5.5 V input, 5 V Output Converter as per section 9.2.1 and figure 12 of the Datasheet, and it works great with my loads of about 1 Amp.

In testing for short circuit output conditions, I expected it to enter a current limiting operation as described in 8.3.2 of the datasheet however, it permanently shorted the switching FET on SW to ground instead.

I don't remember if I shorted the output while it was running or prior to power up, but before I do more destructive testing, I would like to know if these results sound normal, and if so I will likely add a series PTC to Vout on my design for short circuit output protection.
