BQ78350-R1: Use of ChemID in gauging apart from Initial Battery Capacity

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi,

I have  the following problem:

after a reset of the bq78350r1 the IC shows the SOC based on the programmed ChemID. Unfortunately the customers criteria is a voltage range from 3.3V to 4.2V per cell, causing a mismatch between ChemID-SOC and real-SOC.

Can you please create an updated ChemID, showing the correct SOC after reset?old_chemID.zip

Thank you,

Simon

  • Hi Simon,

I wanted to let you know that your post has been assigned to one of our applications engineers. This week takes place our annual Battery Management Deep Dive event for which all our engineers are all hands on deck. He will be able to your post early next week, once this event is over.

You can check out recordings of much of the material we present at www.ti.com/deepdive

    Thank you for your understanding!

  • Hi Simon,

Yes, this can be an issue when the ChemID does not match the battery used. There is a Chemistry tab in bqStudio that allows the customer to select the ChemID from a large selection of batteries in our database. For the latest version of the database (new batteries are being added all the time), you can find the ChemID updater here: www.ti.com/.../sluc564

    Best regards,
    Matt
