UCC2895: Can I sync down in frequency?

Part Number: UCC2895

Hello,

I would like to use the UCC2895 with the timing resistor and capacitor (RT, CT) set at constant switching frequency. Would it then be possible to use the SYNC input pin to apply a clock of a lower frequency?

Thanks!

  • Hello Reed

The UCC2895 will Synchronise only to a higher frequency than that set by the RT,CT components. Attempting to synchronise to a lower frequency will result in unpredictable behaviour and probably cause damage to the power components.

The UCC28950 may be synchronised up or down from the frequency set by its timing resistor, additional details are in the datasheet.
