LM2663: Supply current

Part Number: LM2663

For LM2663, it is supposed to provide 200mA constant current? Where is it getting this current? I don't see any power-pin.

Is it getting if from Vin? But the input limit for that is 1.3 to 4.0 mA.

Also Is there a recommended value for Charge pump capacitor?

  • HI Mumtaz,

Thank you for your interests in the LM2663. Yes it can provide 200mA constant load current. It gets the charge from the input and delivers to the output. Charge over time is current. So you can say that it gets the current from the input.

The 1.3 to 4mA input current is drawn when there is no load.

The recommended charge pump capacitor is 47uF.

    Hope these help.

  • Hi Youhao,

Thanks much for response. That solves one board application.

Another question is that if 100mA was forced into VOUT pin, will it be able to force that current into VIN pin?

    Regards,

    Mumtaz

  • Hi Youhao, So if we connect a positive supply to VIN, then current will flow out of the load that vout is connected to and flow into VIN? We can measure at VIN then? Please say.
  • HI Mumtaz,

What are you doing by forcing an 100mA into VOUT pin? What configuration can cause such forcing current at the VOUT pin? Not using the IC in recommended operating conditions?

    Thanks,
    Youhao
