BQ24070: Can VREF be used to pull input pins high?

Part Number: BQ24070

Hi,

Adding on to the query raised in the thread (http://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/680230.)

Can I use the VREF 3.3V output voltage as pull up voltage for the TS, STAT1, STAT2, PG#  open drain pins , along with the MODE, CE as well as ISET2 pin? Because my input voltage( external adapter ) is 12V
and absolute maximum for the TS, STAT1, STAT2, PG# , MODE, CE and  ISET2 is 7V so i cannot pull it up to Input voltage

So confirm on that i can use VREF pin for the pull up purpose, also please suggest what pull up resistor value should i use for this?

Regards,
Karthik

  • Hello Karthik,
The VREF pin only supplies 3.3V when VIN is present so the /PG pin will stay low when VIN isn't present if you pull it up to VREF. You also don't want to pull up CE with VREF because VREF is enabled through CE. I'll suggest pulling up the other pins to VOUT which is regulated. Also the maximum current VREF can supply is 20mA.
