TPS3824: Cannot reset

Part Number: TPS3824

Hi team

The TPS3824 is designed like an attachment, however the /Reset don't output when the pin of WDI is connected to GND.

Please let me know if there is some countermeasure.

Best regards

  • Hayashi,

The WDI should not connect to GND. This pin should be left floating or high impedance if not being used. If being used, you need to send a rising or falling pulse within the watchdog timeout to prevent a reset.

    Thank you for your replay.

I know the TPS3824 cannot connect directly to GND.It is just a test.
My customer wants to use the function of WDI from MCU signal , but the function don't work as output /Reset.
The waveform is attached the topic.

Please let me know if you have an advise to me anything

    Best regards,

  • Hayashi,

It appears that the watchdog is seeing "high impedance" when connected WDI to GND. Please try adding a 1kohm resistor from WDI to GND to prevent the watchdog from generating its own internal watchdog signal. When adding the 1kohm resistor from WDI to GND, this will require the MCU to provide positive or negative transition otherwise a reset will occur.

Please see section 8.3.4 Watchdog timer in the datasheet for detailed information.

Please let me know if the issue remains or if you have additional questions. Thanks!
