RHFL7913 Negative regulator Current programming

Hello TI,

In the process of testing the RHFL7913 device (FP16 package), I would like to program the current limit for the device. Though datasheet says device is internally programmed to 4A. I would to reduce the current capability to 2A by placing the resistor ( in between 10K to 200K as per datasheet suggestion) between Isc and Vi pins.

Is there any calculation to program the current limit?

Instead doing trail and run.

Hello Swamy,

The RHFL7913 you inquired about is an ST-Micro device, and as such, we cannot comment on it. However, if you would like to replace it with an even better TI device, please refer to this E2E thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/715016 .

And actually, now that I re-read that thread, it was from you last August. Again, no comment on the ST-Micro device.

Hi Swamy,

I wish I had some recommendation regarding technical advice from ST. One solution would be to replace that RHFL with the recommended TI device . . . perhaps you can find assistance elsewhere on the web. Good luck.

Hello Leonard,

Previous thread has TI alternate for Positive regulator (ISL75051). I need Negative regulator with ~4A capability and -12V input range with -1.2V ADJ output (optional : 300krad sustainable). Let me know if you want private mail discussion on this.

Hi Swamy, you are correct, the TPS7H1101A-SP and the TPS7A4501-SP are both positive output regulators. At the moment we don't have negative output linear regulators but depending on your application, we might have other options. I will send you an e-mail right now.
