TPS54302: can I use electrolytic instead of ceramic for Cin and Cout?

Part Number: TPS54302
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54202, TPS54308,

Hello

1. Can I change Cin/Cout ceramic caps into electrolytic type for attached Webench designs?

2. Do they safe for junction temp?   When I use TPS54202 for Webench simulation, it showed thermal warning...

Input / output conditon : Vin=24V, Vout=5V Iout=2A

Device TPS54302,  TPS54308

  • Hi Tetsuro,
For question 1, if you want to use E-cap for simulation, just try to change the cap value and ESR value, follow below steps
Click the component-->click "CHOOSE ALTERNATE" --->Click "Create a custom part" at the top right corner--> input cap value and ESR value and Click "Save"
For question 2, Considering thj parameter, I suggest you to use TPS54302 for your application. which has lower thermal dissipation.
