BQ25601: Effect of reset during I2C reading

Dear TI support members,

If reset is applied during data read by I2C of bq25601, is there any effect on the operation of the IC (eg: initialization does not finish and booting is repeated etc.)?

When you say reset, do you mean Power-on-Reset of the charger?

It is not a power-on reset but a reset during operation.

Hey Chiaki,

So you mean just a host controller reset? As in, your host controller is in the middle of an I2C transaction and then you suddenly reset your host; however power is not lost to the charger?

Yes, it's a reset from the host. Does the host affect BQ 25601 behavior after the host resets BQ 25601 during an I2C transaction? (eg: initialization does not finish and booting is repeated )

Hey Chiaki,

This case may not have been tested as it could depend at which point in the transaction the reset occurs.

I believe the worst that could occur is a repeated start condition or a stop condition on the I2C bus. But this should not lock up the I2C state machine in the charger.

Hey Chiaki,

A repeated is a valid event via the I2C spec. You could followup with an I2C transaction with a Stop command, and then after send I2C data as usual.
