BQ25703A: How to disable battery discharging when battery temperature is too high or to low

Part Number: BQ25703A

Hello,

We have use "BQ34110PWR" and "BQ25703ARSNR" in our product design.

Product has external power adapter as well as a Battery. We would like to turn off battery discharging for conditions like "Over temperature for discharging condition".

How can we do this ?

Thanks,

Snehal

  • Hey Snehal,

The BQ25703A has an external P-Ch. MOSFET used as the BATFET to connect to the system rail. Because of this, there is always a conduction path from the battery to the system, even when the PMOS device is disabled (through the body diode).

If you want to add discharge control, I suggest either adding a load switch or another reverse facing PMOS on your system side to cutoff the load. This external device would be controlled by your host based on whether the over-temperature condition occurs.
