TPS1HA08-Q1: short circuit protection

Hi TI team,

use:

28V VIN, 4A IOUT

In the datasheet, table 10 explicitly states that "The device is completely short-circuit protected up to 125°C" for 8V < V < 18V. However, there is no such statement for 18V < V < 40V.  Does this mean that short circuit protection is not guaranteed for input voltages from 18V to 40V?

    Hello-

    That is correct. The TPS1HA08-Q1 is intended for use in standard automotive environments where the battery voltage in operating cases will be 18V or below, so the device can only guarantee short-circuit protection up to 18V. However, if the device is using the A or C version with the lower current limit, the stress in a short-circuit is significantly decreased and the device should be able to survive high voltage short-circuts.
