Positive terminal of BAT1 is negative terminal of BAT2.
They are same point.

We are developing a BMS system for a client. I cannot say too much.

To get a better understanding (since my hardware engineer is out of the office) J1 has wires labelled BAT0, BAT1 to BAT16. Do the wires labelled BAT1 to BAT16 get attached to the positive terminal of the corresponding battery?

A couple of other questions:

There are two BAT0's. They both go to the negative terminal of battery 1?

There are two wires labelled BAT16 and BAT16S. These both go to the positive terminal of battery 16?

Yes to both of your questions but they are force and sense.
You can reference bq76pl455A-q1 reference schematic and you can get some ideas there.

Hi Roger,

I setup my batteries as shown in the two pictures. I will have to make two post as the second picture could not be loaded.

I attached the negative terminal side of the batteries.

However, there is no communication with the BMS system.

Does the configuration look correct?

here is the positive side of the batteries. The two red wires connected to BAT16
