BQSTUDIO: Import issues

Part Number: BQSTUDIO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQEVSW,

It appears that I can load most of the configuration, system data, gas gauging, Ra Table values from my golden image, but it doesn't appear to update any of the calibration data values stored in the golden image. Is this area protected? Do I need to change a preference in my bqStudio in order to import calibration information into data memory? The old bqEVSW allowed the golden image to import all data flash values including calibration values (CC Gain, CC Delta, CC Offset, Board Offset, Voltage Divider, etc). How can I get these calibration data memory values to update when I use "Import from file"?

The old bqEVSW seemed to change CC Gain, CC Delta, CC Offset, and Voltage Divider when running just the Voltage calibration. The bqStudio software seems to only touch the Voltage Divider value. Is this true?

Do I need to perform CC Offset and Board Offset calibration steps in addition to the Voltage calibration step?

I tried to post these questions on TI's Customer Support page (Case #CS0020311) but the only reply I got was that they didn't know and that E2E community was my best option for answers.

Jeff.

  • If under Windows->Preferences->Golden Image, I remove "Calibration" from the "Class Names to be Preserved in GMFS files", it has no effect when attempting to "Import from File". I still can't import any of the calibration data.

If I select "Show Advanced Views" under Windows->Preferences->All Global Settings tab and use "Import from File (Advanced), it provides am Import Dialog pop-up each time that I can "Configure Selection" to include calibration data during import. This works once, but I must perform this "Configure Selection" every time I call "Import from File (Advanced). It appears that the Import Dialog pop-up doesn't save its selection for future "Import from File" requests.

How can I setup bqStudio such that it always allows the calibration data values to be imported without having to select this every time?

    I am using bqStudio, V1.3.86.3.

    Jeff.

  • I also can't seem to update CC Offset at all. Whenever it attempts to write data memory. It fails to write to this location. All other fields update okay. Is there an issue with the bqStudioTEST version with CC Offset?
  • At this point I believe the only questions I have left are:

    1.      The old bqEVSW seemed to change CC Gain, CC Delta, CC Offset, and Voltage Divider when running just the Voltage calibration. The bqStudio software seems to only touch the Voltage Divider value. Is this true?

    2.      How can I setup bqStudio such that it always allows the calibration data values to be imported without having to select this every time using Advanced Views and “Import from File (Advanced)”? Is this a bug in bqStudio (V1.3.86.3)?

    3.      Is there an issue with the bqStudio (V1.3.86.3) version with CC Offset?  It appears to either fail to write to data memory or is immediately reset after the write to data memory to its previous value.

    Regards,

    Jeff.

  • 1. Calibration for each of the parameters need to be done one after the other. bqstudio does it one after the other.
2.click on preferences-> preferences->datamemeory-> import and in the field that says class names to be preserved. delete calibration it it was there.

3 The gauge periodically performs cc offset calibration. So even if that is failing, you can ignore.

    thanks

  • Thanks Onyx,

    In #2, I think you meant Windows->Preferences->Data Memory->Import.

I was clearing "Calibration" from the Windows->Preferences->Golden Image menu.

    What does that affect?

    Regards,

    Jeff.
