BQ76PL455A-Q1: BQ76PL455 GUI

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL455A

I am using EM1402 evaluation board and trying to connect through USB to the PC to watch out for GUI, but as I connect the USB  to PC, It shows "cannot open COMP port'. What are the requirements to just connect, the EM1402 to the GUI.

  • Hi Radhika,

As I mentioned in the other thread:

The bq76pl455a GUI is for use when connecting directly via UART USB to TTL serial cable (without the TMS570) and the TMS570 launchpad is for use with our example code via Code Composer studio and then connecting a separate UART connection from the launchpad to the EM1402 EVM as explained in section 5.3 of the user's guide. So you will need to download the example code for making full use of the EM1402 EVM here: www.ti.com/.../EM1402EVM. Refer to this thread for more detail on the connections: e2e.ti.com/.../743203

    Best Regards,

    Taylor
  • Yes, agreed. I went through that thread also, I don't want to connect TMS570 to the EM1402. My question is I just want to open BQ76pl455a GUI. How do I do that with EM1402 board?

  • Hi Radhika,

Please read through this thread below for many recommendations for debugging GUI issues:

    e2e.ti.com/.../766808

The big ones are to make sure you have the FTDI drivers, powered the board correctly with cells, and have jumpers/switches configured correctly. Let us know if you still have issues after exhausting those recommendations.
