BQ20Z655-R1: Power management forum

Part Number: BQ20Z655-R1

Hallo

Sorry, the problem was not solved. I sent a breakdown in the report 29.5.2019 11 33 AM.

Please re-examine the problem.

Thank you.

Lada

  • Hi Lada,

I believe you are responding to this thread, e2e.ti.com/.../805362. You can mark it unresolved and continue to post in the same post. Please see my answer there.

I have copied it here below as well.

The bq20z655-R1 does have rem cap as a read write command. That cannot be changed. However, once you write capacity, then on reset it will pick up the value based on OCV from the chemistry and display it.

My suggestion is use remainingcapacityalarm to trigger interrupts when your capacity reaches a particular threshold. Please do not write to remaining capacity register.

Please close this thread and we can continue in the other post.
  • Hi Batt,

Different capacity display via SMB bus and LCD display is caused accidentally.

By overwriting "Remaining Capacity" to 0, we have always been able to trigger this problem.

"RESET" the battery cannot be used when the battery is locked.

The value read through the SMB bus we need to display it on a device that is connected to a battery. Therefore, you cannot use yours
    proposal.

Can you suggest a another procedure?

    Regards,

    Lada
  • Hi Lada,

Can I please ask why you need to write remcap? Once the gauge is in system you should let it estimate capacity without writing to it.

I believe this will stop if you don't write remcap.
  • Hi Batt

Writing a remcap will cause the error to arise. This error occurs randomly and without remcap. This happened in tests at -30 °C with the equipment connected. Three batterys were used. In one, the error was not removed after heating.
RESET For two, the error was removed by itself. We also have customer reports that this error occurs even at normal temperature. Removed by connecting to charger.

It seems that the error is in SW BQ20Z655-R1. Is it possible to modify SW BQ20Z655-R1?

    Regards

    Lada
