BQ25601D: How to connect BQ25601D and bq27z561?

Part Number: BQ25601D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27Z561,

Hello,

I am developing a circuit which involves a Li-ion battery. The battery has to have the ability to charge, that's why I am using BQ25601D, and the processor has to be able to measure battery voltage and current and for that purpose, I am using bq27z561.

I was wondering how to make these two chips work together in the circuit. Do you maybe have any circuit diagram examples?

Thank you sincerely,

Žan

  • Hi Žan,

The EVM User's Guides have some high-level block diagrams to show how to connect the charger and the gauge. For example, please take a look at Figure 9 from the BQ27z561 User's Guide and Figure 1 from the BQ25601D User's Guide. The battery is connected to the gauge circuit, which is connected to the BAT side of the charger circuit.

I would also recommend ordering these EVMs in order to simplify the evaluation and debugging process.

    Best regards,

    Angelo

  • Thank you Angelo!

If I understand this correctly, my circuit should look something like this...?

Also: should I power processor directly from PACK+ and PACk- or should I connect it to SYS_GND?

    Thank you,

    Žan
