BQ34Z100EVM: Measures current when no load is applied.

Part Number: BQ34Z100EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, , BQSTUDIO

Hello,

I am using the BQ34Z100EVM connected to a 12V 12Ah lead acid battery and the EV2400 interface . I followed the instructions in the datasheet, calibrated the board several times. But even when there is no load connected it measures between 8-10mA consumption.

I created a log file needed to get a suitable chemID (charge-relax-discharge-relax).

But, because of that current the Gauging Parameter Calculator returns the chemID of a 7200Ah battery and a warning that the current is not 0 in the relaxation period.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

  • Hi Mozes,

Please make sure that the board and cc offset values in the bqstudio calibration page are non zero. You can manually perform calibration by initiating auto calibration using the board offset and cc offset options in the calibration plugin. A youtube video explains how these can be set to zero out residual current.

  • Hi Batt,

Board and cc offset values are non zero. I recalibrated the current following the instructions in the video. After calibration it measured +5mA with no load. I did a power cycle, now it won't read any current, it stays at 0.

    Thank you!
