UCC28220-Q1: Inteleaved boost converter

Part Number: UCC28220-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28220

Hello there,

I am struggling with compensator calculations required for Interleaved boost converter control using UCC28220. Is there any document for the compensation network calculations for Interleaved boost converter?

Thanks and regards,
Akshay

  • Hello Akshay,

The UCC28220 is a non automotive version of the sam controller and it has a little more information about the part.
    Please take a look at

Section 3.11 details a compensation method for this part.

    Regards

    John

  • But it uses current loop also, because of which same formulas cannot be used in the circuit where only voltage compensation is provided, as peak current mode control is used in UCC28220. So isn't there any other document which will only refer to interleaved boost converter using UCC28220 ?

  • The designer of the UCC28220 envisioned  a properly designed current loop for controlled operation with the architecture detailed in the data sheet
The application information  is detailed in the document I attached.

It sounds like you have some unique method of operation of the device. Good luck with your endeavours.

  • I am not using it in any unique method of operation. Very little information is given to use it for interleaved  boost converter. In the  application note it is used for interleaved boost converter with PFC circuit combined. Thats why, the compensator  calculations will change when it is used for interleaved boost converter.

Now, When I use the IC as prescribed in datasheet only for interleaved boost converter , PWMs are not getting at the output of IC. What could have gone wrong?

  • If you post a PDF of your schematic, bill of material and your design requirements I will be able to review your design and make suggestions.

It is very unlikely that the datasheet and application note are erroneous and I suggest that you also review these documents .

    Regards

    John
