UCC28950: Error in the controller regarding misfires in the gates.

Part Number: UCC28950
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28951,

Dear TI,

We are currently considering to implement UC28950 in a new design.

I have been reading about an error in the controller regarding misfires in the gates in case of peak current limit forcing the on time below TMIN enabling burst mode at the same time.

Has this issue been addressed in upgrades/corrections in this controller or is this still an issue in case of the above scenario?

Thank you in advance and

Kind regards

Thomas A. Mansachs

  • Hi Thomas,

TI recommends the UCC28951 for new designs where it is likely that the design will be operating at high to max duty cycles and may enter into current limit. The UCC28951 addresses the pulse skipping behavior that can been encountered on the UCC28950 under the above conditions.

The UCC28951 is pin to pin compatible with the UCC28950.
