Hi,

 I'm using the EM1402EVM together with LAUNCHXL-TMS57004 and I have some questions about the external 12V supply. In other posts, I saw that EM1402EVM can't work without the external supply, but I have been able to communicate with the bq76pl455 and take samples of the cells without the 12V supply. I realized that I can use the bq76pl455 to monitor and protect,as it should be, it is not necessary to have an external 12V supply or a 12V battery connected to the EM1402EVM unless the active balance is needed.

I don't know if this can harm the device or anything. Please let me know.

    Thank you for your question!

    While BQ76PL455 by itself supports without a 12V supply, the EM1402EVM is designed to use an external 12V supply. We cannot recommend use of the device outside of its designed specs.
