BQ25713: BQ25713 OTG questions

Part Number: BQ25713

Hi Team,

Here are several question about OTG from customer. Please kindly help to check:

1. When device operate in OTG mode and OTG voltage is 8V, what will happens when insert a 6V to 7,5V source at input ? Any risk for this behavior?

2. When device operate in OTG mode and OTG voltage is 8V, what will happens when insert a 7.5V to 8.5 V source at input ?Any risk for this behavior?

3. When device operate in OTG mode and OTG voltage is 8V, what will happens when insert a 8.5V to 10V source at input ? Any risk for this behavior?

4. What's the criteria to make device switch from OTG back to charging mode? Any response time spec?

5. When trigger OTG current limit, any kind of Prochot will be trigger?

6. When OTG OVP or UVP happens, what is behavior of charger?

  • Hi Shaquille,

1, There is OTG_UVP protection, which is 85% of OTG setting voltage. When it is triggered, Converter will shut down and EN_OTG bit will be cleared , no risk concern. Host have to re-enable OTG.

    2. 7.5V~8.5V is not triggering both OVP or UVP, when it is 7.5V~8V OTG will go into current regulation mode which is determined by REG0x3C[].when it is 8V~8.5V converter will not generate pulse. No risk concern.

    3.  There is OTG_OVP protection, which is 110% of OTG setting voltage. When it is triggered, converter will shut down and EN_OTG bit will be cleared. Host has to re-enable OTG.

    4. Below truth table summarize the logic to go out of OTG mode. Response time should be aournd 10ms.

    5. When trigger OTG current limit, any kind of Prochot will be trigger?

Nope, OTG current limit is not included in PROCHOT profile.

    6. When OTG OVP or UVP happens, what is behavior of charger?

         Referring to above answers.
