Hi,

I want to build a Medical SMPS (Class II). Requirements are as follows:

Input Voltage	90-264 VAC
Input Frequency	47-63 Hz
Output Voltage	24V
Output Current	4A

I searched some and found ti Tida series. So i think i need to use PFC (CCM or DCM), HB LCC and synchronous rectifier controller. (And of course mosfets but i did not search them yet)

I'm thinking to use UCC28180D PFC, UC25630-3DDBT or UCC256404 LLC Resonant Controller and UCC24612-2DBVR or UCC24636DBVR synchromous rectifier controller.

For this requirements could i use them or do you recommend another controllers?

Unfortunately price is important.

can you list ithd and PF requirement for PFC ?

we have ccm（ucc28180）and crm（UCC28056）PFC controller，UCC28056 is cheaper than UCC28180 ， both of them can achieve about 10% ithd.

Hi David,

I can not measure the ithd.

It is medical smps so it has to be low EMI/EMC and has to pass class II standarts. I choose ccm ic because i read somewhere ccm is better than DCM/TM on >30W, but if you are telling CRM is better than it i can use it.

I'm trying to build Medical SMPS(Class II) with as possibble as cheap with good quality. But important thing is quality so i can increase the budget a bit.

Hi Foras:

Both UCC28180 and UCC28056 should be able to meet your requirment if you have a good input emi filter circuit.

UCC28056 has lower standby power and lower cost.

Thank you so i can use UCC28056. What about the other controllers ? And can you suggest me a good input EMI filter circuit ?

I suggest you can compare different reference design to see which one is suitable for you.
