TPS2544: About device operation

Part Number: TPS2544

(1) Power-on-reset(POR) is described in the page 19 (Device Operation) of TPS2544 datasheet.

(1-1) Does POR mean that VIN is 0V and EN is low?

(1-2) And after VIN is 5V and EN is high, CTL configuration is detected?

(2) Is it correct that the following (a) and (b) are the same state?

  (a) EN is low.

  (b) CTL setting is DCH(Discharge) (CTL1, CTL2, CTL3) = (0, 0, 0).

(3) When DCH(Discharge) (000X) is set, VBUS off (discharge) happen for two seconds every time. Is it correct?

Thank you.

Katsuhiro

  • Hello Katsuhiro,

    1. 1-1 Enable and VIN are both inputs that are not by the TPS2544. Their state does not rely on the state of the TPS2544.

1-2 After the device is powered on, the CTL pins will be sampled to determine what mode the device should go to, as seen in Figure 30 from the datasheet.

    2. a-b The CTL pins are also inputs, so their levels are not dependent on enable. The CTL pins are dependent only on what is driving those lines.

    3. The 2 second VBUS discharge occurs between most mode changes (CTL pins are changed). In the discharge state (000X), OUT will be held in discharge. If EN is low, OUT will be held in discharge.

    Thanks,

    Emma
