BQ24703: BQ24703

Part Number: BQ24703

Hello Expert on Power management

can any one explain the the calculation of power rating the R sense ?

i use the BQ24703EVM for reference : http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluu160a/sluu160a.pdf

i want to make the current charging is 10 A, so i should change the R20 become 0.005 Ohm on that schematic to make sure the SRSET input not more than 2.5 V (the max can be)

will very helpful if any body have done the BOM to make the 10A current charging

Many thanks

  • Hi Kurni,

Changing the R20 can increase the charging current. However, in order to take care of the thermal performance, multiple FETs need to be in parallel to handle the high charging current. The BQ24703 might not have enough driver capability to drive the FETs. It is a legacy part with 10+ years. I would suggest search the charger for your application at http://www.ti.com/chargers. Please be advised that the 10A is challenging in terms of getting good thermal performance.
