TPS65131-Q1: What is the function of the inside PMOS for Boost circuit?

Part Number: TPS65131-Q1

Hi Expert,

From datasheet,I can see, for Boost circuit, we use rectifier diode to discharge the inductor. But I still see a PMOS inside our IC. What is the function of this PMOS.

Hello Wilson,

This switch is used to maintain continuous conduction mode even at very light output load. Without this switch, it is possible that inductor current will become discontinuous at light load operation.
