BQ24610: What does the recommended junction temperature mean for BQ24610?

Part Number: BQ24610
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24650

I am looking at your BQ24610 battery charger but am confused by the Recommended Junction Temperature, 0C to 125C, shown on the datasheet in section 8.3.

Was the 0C bottom limit a courtesy figure to help the battery or does something in the IC itself not work below 0C?

I have found a lithium cell that claims it will operate down to -40C.

Thanks,

Lauren

  • Hi Lauren,

BQ24610 junction temperature is rated for 0C to 125C, and any condition outside recommended operating condition (or condition according to which EC table is specified by) is not guaranteed. What are your system requirements? Does BQ24650 suit your application? This part is similar but is rated across the temperature range -40C to 125C.
