TPS7A05: TPS7A05 & TPS7A02 for battery powered device

Dear Sirs, good afternoon

Cureently planning to use the TPS7A05 and/or TPS7A02 (3V version) family for a battery product device. This device can be also powered through a microUSB 5V power supply (by implementing a switch).

Would the regulator be suitable if powered from a power supply?. Is there any reccomendation against doing it?

Hi Javier,

Do you know the expected currents in your application? My concern would be the total power dissipation and the USB power standards.

Thanks for your reply.

The expected current for the application is expected to be between 50-80 [ma].

When powered by battery max input voltage will be 4.5V

When powered by cell phone charger max input voltage will be 5V.

Hi Javier,

Would you consider the peak current to be 80mA as well? If so, then these should work fine!

I would recommend the new TPS7A02 or TPS7A03 for minimal current consumption.
