TPS55340: yes

Part Number: TPS55340

Hi ,

I am doing the DFMEA for our design and I am using this boost IC (TPS55340QRTERQ1).

so we have the doubts on some pins:

1) NC pin short to supply pin  what will happens ?

2) FREQ pin short Supply/GND , adjacent pins what will happen ?

3) FB Pin short Supply/GND , adjacent pins what will happen ??

4) COMP Pin open /short to supply /GND /adjacent ?

Please let me know the Above details ASAP.

Thanks,

Mani j

  • Hi Mani j,

    Thanks for using TPS55340.

    1) NC has to connect ground or the IC does not work.

    2) FREQ to GND, frequency goes very high. FREQ to Supply, frequency goes very low, and if the voltage at FREQ is higher than the max absolute, it blows up. It is similar if FREQ is connected to FB since FB is 1.2V normally.

    3) FB to GND, COMP is clamped high, it operates at max duty cycle. FB to Supply, COMP is clamped high, the gate will not turn on, and if the voltage is higher than max absolute, it blows up. If FB is connected to FREQ (1.25V normal), COMP is also clamped high.

    4) If COMP is open, it will be internally clamped high and low. COMP to GND, it will be internally clamped low. COMP to Supply, it will be internally clamped high. COMP to FB (1.2V normally), limit the current at 1.2V defined limit.

    Thanks,
