UCC28950: Gate Timing of Synchronous Rectification -2

Part Number: UCC28950
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28951

Hi Team,

By the previous E2E thread,
 - UCC28950: Gate Timing of Synchronous Rectification
the delay time from primary side OFF to secondary (synchronous rectification) side OFF seems to be set. but can the delay time from primary side ON to secondary (synchronous rectification) side ON be set?
The customer wants to set the delay time of about 100ns ~ 150ns from primary side ON to secondary side ON.
Could you give advice on how to delay the ON of secondary synchronous rectification?
Thank you.

Best Regards,

Koshi Ninomiya

  • Hello Ninomiya-san

In the Phase Shifted Full Bridge topology, the turn-on of the SRs happens as the OUTC and OUTD signals go on. No delay is necessary and the UCC28950 does not provide one. I would also suggest that the customer choose the UCC28951.

The UCC28951 device is an enhanced version of the UCC28950. It is a fully compatible drop-in replacement for the UCC28950. Refer to application note SLUA853 at http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua853/slua853.pdf for more details. The UCC28951 is typically the better choice, especially for applications where the system may have to operate simultaneously at a duty cycle> 90% and current limit.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards

    Colin
