BQ25570EVM-206: BQ25570 Q&A

Part Number: BQ25570EVM-206
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25570

We would like to charge the Sucker capacitor using the BQ25570-evm board.
So we looked at the BQ25570 IC, the user guide on the board, and the data sheet and looked for conditions to run the board.

At this time, the cold start conditions we found are VSTOR<VSTOR_CHGEN (1.8V), VIN(DC)>V(CS)=600mV, PIN>PIN(CS)=15uW, EN=don't care.

We entered 600 mV voltage through power supply to J2, J3 terminals of BQ25570vm VIN as conditioned, EN pin connected nothing, and VSTOR terminal connected multimeter to observe voltage.
At this point, a voltage of approximately 1.1V was observed on the VSTOR terminal.

We believe that VSTOR is charged up to 1.8V over time.
It is understood that voltage should be higher than VSTOR_CHGEN (1.8V) and out of cold start mode.

It was then understood that the EN pin and the VOUT_EN pin were connected to the LOW or HIGH to enter several other modes.

However, the VSTOR voltage remained at 1.1V and did not increase to 1.8V.

Therefore, it is not allowed to enter another mode.

I don't know why the board didn't work even though it met the conditions for running the board.

I want you to answer if we misunderstood the terms or if there are any missing parts.

  • Hi Sanghyun,

When you connect the 600mV to VIN_DC, is the 600mV supply providing current to the charger?  Is there switching activity on LBOOST pin?

If you connect a sourcemeter to VBAT > 1.8V and then a low impedance power supply lower than the voltage on VBAT, does the charger function (switching activity on LBOOST pin)?

    Regards,
