BQ20Z95: Permanently unseal bq20z95

Part Number: BQ20Z95

Hi there,

I am working on a sealed pack based on bq20z95 for cycling. I could temporarily unseal and with fully access by 0414 3672 and ffff ffff. Then I could update the configuration and import/export GG file and re-program with default bq20z95 dfi file. However, this chip will get back to sealed condition after Reset the chip. I don't know when I finally export the ROM file, the sealed condition (or mark) will or will not bring into the ROM file?

So if the chip could be Permanently unsealed, it would great.

Another issue I need your help: I could not find the Chem ID in the Chemistry List in bqEV software. The battery part number is LGABF1L1865 3350mAh

Thanks,

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

First of all, BQ20z95 is NRND.  I would suggest you switch to bq40z50.

Second,  the gauge cannot be permanently unsealed if it has been sealed.  The one way is to download a default firmware to it after it is unsealed and you have full access.

Regarding the chemistry id, please use GPCCHEM to find the best matching id.

  • Hi Andy,

Thank you for your response and suggestion. We have almost all family of your BMS chip in our products. The product with bq20z95 is an old product but our customer is still interested in.

I did re-program the chip with the default firmware (bq20z95_1_50.dfi) after unseal the chip. The re-programming is successfully and all configured parameters are changed, but it's still sealed. Can you please let me know if it's impossible to unseal or Ti has a special unseal code to permanently unseal it? (if yes, can you please send me?)

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Did you re-program the device with the default firmware after you put it into full access mode?
