TPS92692: TPS92692 for 1A output current

Part Number: TPS92692
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Dear Tuan, please answer

I need 1 A output current.

I have 10 - 30 V input voltage. I plan to set the output voltage to 36 - 40 V.

QUESTIONS:

1) How do you think, I can use TPS92692 or I can take another chip with fewer external elements? Please, advise, that there is still.

2) If I set 36 V output, then it is "boost driver" ?  (Input voltage 10 - 30 V.)

3) Is it possible to set 12 V output voltage?  (Input voltage 10 - 30 V.)

4) Plase, remind how to convert PSpice model to TSC ? I'd like to simulate boost driver in TINA-TI. Please see attach.

TIA.

Sincerely,

Vladimir Naumenkov

  • Hi Vladimir,

If you have 10V to 30V input with 36V to 40V output then I would use the Boost topology.  With Boost topology the output has to be equal to or larger than the input voltage.

    1.  The TPS92692 will be an appropriate choice for you.

    2.  Yes...If input is set at 10V to 30V and output is 36V then you would use a Boost regulator.

    3.  As mentioned above...You can not use a boost regulator with input voltage of 12V...Look at a boost regulator schematic...the output voltage is Vin - Vdiode even without any switching form the regualtor.

    4.  We do not generate PSpice schematic or TINA schematic for you to simulated.  You can use modify our TINA file or PSpice file design your own circuit and simulate.  You can use the example of the Boost regulator in the data sheet on Figure 43 (page 34) to help you.  There is also a design example along with equations to help you.

    Thanks Tuan

  • Dear Tuan, thank you

I found a TSC file with TPS92692 model (please see attach) but not all inputs are available in this model. Probably, PSpice model has it all? But is it possible to convert a  PSpice model into a TSC model?

    TIA

  • Hi Vladimir,

There is a typo on 3. above...input should be changed to output as in your question.

    3.  As mentioned above...You can not use a boost regulator with output voltage of 12V...Look at a boost regulator schematic...the output voltage is Vin - Vdiode even without any switching form the regualtor.

  • Vladimir,

All we have is the PSpice model for this part.  We do not have a TINA model for this.

    Thanks Tuan
