UCD9081EVM: UCD9081 EVAL GUI fails to detect device.

I just received my UCD9081 EVL kit. I have TI fusion designer installed 7.3.1 as well as the UCD EVAL GUI.

The eval kit is powered up , all bus rail voltage LED's are lit. I have a green LED on the USB Interface adapter dongle.

When I use the GUI to discover devices, the display reports that UCD9081 is not present.

When I select File / Exit , I get a pop-up telling me an unhandled exception has occurred in the application.

Selecting continue brings me back to the Power supply sequencer GUI screen . Selecting Quit brings another pop-up.

I launch the troubleshooter and select recommended settings., then this pop up opens

when I select Test the program, this popup appears

the EVM is powered , the dongle LED is green.

If I exit the EVAL GUI and attempt to use Fusion Digital Power Designer. I run into similar problem, No devices found.

I tried changing BUS speeds , enable /disable packet error checking, scanning modes , nothing works.

What is the problem?

Hello

UCD9081 has its own GUI. Please download from https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvc490

Fusion Digital Power Designer does not support UCD9081.

Please make sure to disable the PEC and set the speed to 100KHhz at the USB-TO-GPIO Dongle in order to communicate with UCD9081.

i had UCD9081 EVI GUI version 3.0.0.15 installed.. I uninstalled it and the re-installed the version from the link you provided to me. It too is version 3.0.0.15

I then followed section 2.1 of http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slvub51/slvub51.pdf to install the fusion GUI. Though the Fusion digital power designer GUI does not support UCD9081, you need download this GUI to re-configure the USB_TO_GPIO Dongle. I have the speed set to 100K and PEC disabled.

What device address will the EVAL kit device respond to?

The images at original post are not viewable. you can forward to your local TI field team.

Here are couple points to check:

1.When installing the GUI, make sure that you right click the file and select run as administrator. Is this on Win 7 or newer system?

2. disconnect the USB cable and reconnect, to ensure the green LED on the dongle is on

3. try different PC

The default address of the EVM would be 0x6F.

Ran as administrator , still have the same problem. The PC has windows 10 installed.

It works fine with other products I connect to. I closed other applications when running the TI GUI.

I disconnected and re-connected the USB cable, green LED turns off then back on, still does not detect device.

I do not have access to another computer at this time.

Who is the local TI field contact for Teradyne in Buffalo Grove Illinois?

Have you rebooted the PC?

You do not know TI FAE supporting Teradyne. I believe either Andrew or Brian who are the local FAE for you.

Please forward those images to them so that we can address the issues

I got the pictures from Brian. let's try one more time:

1. delete the whole slvc490 folder from you PC and reboot your PC

2. redownload the https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvc490

3. unzip the file

4. connect dongle to PC and change to 100KHz and disable PEC. Please follow this video https://training.ti.com/fusion-power-designer-change-dongle-settings?context=1136655-1139495-1136646

5. launch the UCD9081 GUI from SLVC490 folder

If this is still not working, please test the USB-TO-GPIO dongle with the low level I2C TOOL. training.ti.com/fusion-power-designer-low-level-i2c-smbus-debugger . you can connect the USB-TO-GPIO dongle(maybe via blue wires) to any working system with I2C interface to ensure it is working.
