TPS65131: When the power is turned on under the connected load, overcurrent occurs.

Part Number: TPS65131

The load is already connected to the board.

When the power is turned on under the connected load, overcurrent occurs.

However, it is normal to turn on without connecting the load.

It is good to connect the load while it is on.

Input: 5V 0.9A @ 75ohm load  /     Over Current problem  5V / 1.4A over

Output: load is 75 ohm. @ 0.2A ,positive 15V

P.S   is there soft start ? or  can give delay time working?

  • Hello,

There is soft start at power up and the switch current limit of the converters ramps up slowly to their full value in about 1ms. After approx. 1ms, the only thing that limits the current is the switch current limit (1.95A typical for both boost and inverting converter). If load is such that switches hit the current limit (based load current and Vout/Vin conversion ratio), output voltage will will drop successively but the converters will not shutdown.

So soft start is in effect until approx. 1ms after power up.

    Kind Regards,

    Liaqat
