UCC28C44: Fosc issue to change timing capacitor

Part Number: UCC28C44
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , UC2843, TL2844B

Hi,

My customer was testing the UC2843AQD8RQ1 samples but he found some problems related to the fosc that requires him to change the timing capacitor and the lower ignition thresholds are not reconciled with the SIC Mosfets that I have to go to drive.

UCC28C44DR has features compatible with customer application. Do you agree it can solve customer issue? He would use it in SO-8 package.

  • Hi Antonio!

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us! Could you tell me about the problems that are emerging related to the oscillator frequency?

If a temperature range of up to +125C is still required for your application, the UCC28C44 is not the device for you. A better choice would be the UCC28C44-Q1. It is an automotive version of the UCC28C44 that has the extended temperature range and reliability required by the automotive qualification.

Thanks again for reaching out to us, I look forward to talking more soon!

  • Hi Aidan,

We would need the component with the extended temperature range (+ 125 ° C) so we would opt for the component UCC28C44-Q1.

The problem related to the oscillation frequency of the UC2843 is that it is double compared to 2844 so we have to modify the timing capacitor and it is something we would like to avoid.
    Thank you,

    Antonio

  • Hi Antonio!

In that case, it definitely sounds like the UCC28C44-Q1 is the right part for you! It is an upgraded version of the TL2844B you were previously using, so it will also consume less power in your converter.

Thanks again for getting in touch with us, I hope this information helped you with your design!
