BQ24735: BQ2473x software not detecting device

Hi,

We are migrating our setup to a new computer.

Previously we had installed on another computer BQStudio & Bq2473x Test Bench software and it worked (and still does) with our EV2400.

But when migrating to the new setup, we can use BQStudio without problems but the Bq2473x or Bq2472x softwares always gives us the same error, USB Error. Insure USB cable is connected and Driver is working.

We try to connect to a Bq24725a from the EV2400 it works with one computer but doesn't on the other one.

We installed the following :

- BQStudio 1.3.86

- EV2400Updater-0.28-windows-installer

- EV2400_Support_Components_20110524

Any help would be appreciated.

I will look into this and get back to you.

To confirm, both computers work with BQStudio, but only the old computer works with the GUI software shown below, correct?

Are both computers running the same version of Windows?

Hi and thank you for your quick reply.

Indeed both computer can run BQStudio without problems, and only the newer computer is not able to make the bq24725a software.

Both machines runs Windows 10 (old computer : runs v1903 while the newer one runs v1909).

Hi Alexandre,

Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit Windows? Some users have reported problems using the BQ2472x/BQ2473x GUI software with 64-bit Windows, such as in this E2E thread:

Unfortunately, the older BQ2472x/BQ2473x GUI software is no longer supported, so I can't provide more detailed support beyond that.

Is it acceptable for you to use BQStudio from now on since that works on both computers, or is there a specific reason that you also need the older GUI software?

Hi Angelo,

We are mainly using this interface to control our Battery Charger (BQ24725a) and we have found this interface quite handy.

So the solution you are thinking of, is to use the BQStudio sending the raw commands to the chip?

Yes. We typically use BQStudio for all of our bench evaluation, so I'm wondering if this is an acceptable solution for you as well.

We have been able to use BQStudio to control our Battery Charger.

It is an acceptable solution, even though the BQ2473x software is a little simpler to use (maybe that is a good thing to add on BQStudio ? :) )
