BQ25713: Questions on VAP mode

Hi

     We are using BQ25713 in our design, I have some questions on VAP mode. Please help to check,

     1. As we all know, VAP mode is enabled in Battery only mode. In my system, I use 2s battery, does VAP mode is valid regardless of Battery status, for example, battery is full or battery is out of power and so on.

 2. In DS, It syas " In VAP mode operation, the buck-boost charger delivers the energy from the battery to charge the voltage of the input decoupling capacitors (VBUS) as high as possible (like 20V). " , how could I define OTG output volatge when i using VAP mode ? My 2s battery volatge range is from 7V to 8.4V. I set VBUS voltage to 20V ? Or just 8.4V? How could I set the OTG voltage when battery is full or out of power? Does the VBUS/OTG output voltage could impact the VAP performance?

    Hi April,

       Active HIGH to enable OTG or VAP modes. When REG0x34[5]=1, pulling high OTG/VAP pin and setting REG0x35[4]=1 can enable OTG mode. When REG0x34[5]=0, pulling high OTG/VAP pin is to enable VAP mode.

    It depends on status of REG0x34[5] for whether you are enabling OTG or VAP. Follow section 9.3.2 Vmin Active Protection (VAP) when Battery only Mode from the datasheet to correctly enter VAP mode.

    Hi Kedar,

        Thanks for your reply.  I have no concern on entering VAP mode.  Just concerned , if the device has entered VAP mode, then no matter what the Battery voltage  is, VAP mode is always working. Right?

         If right, in VAP mode, how could I set VBUS OTG voltage ? ( In 2s battery condition )

    Hi April,

      The OTG/VAP pin is dual purpose pin. You will be configuring OTG or VAP depending on setting REG0x35[4]=1 to enable OTG mode, or REG0x34[5]=0, pulling high OTG/VAP pin to enable VAP mode.
