I am planning to use two LM74700-Q1 in ORing application. Input to one device is 6V battery ( 4x1.5V). Input to the other device is boost converter output of 6V. This combination allows one of the sources to be used to drive a brushed motor.

Do I need the TVS diodes to protect the inputs bearing in mind the battery voltage and boost converter outputs are stable? Also in the EVM schematic, there are capacitors C2, C3, C4 and D2 . Would I need them in my application?

Hi Siva,

For simple ORing application, TVS diodes are not needed. The application schematic in the EVM user's guide shows an example for automotive application where TVS diodes are needed to clamp the ISO transient pulses. But, I would suggest to add 0.1uF at input and 1uF at the output for noise filtering.
