HI!

We use the TPS40140 at 76 different projects.

we use triple components to achieve 120A.

the component moved last year to NRND.

we still want to use it for 120A solutions, and ask , if we can order it in the next 10 years?

As a policy, TI does not abruptly EOL devices which still have customers ordering it. There are some special cases, where we would have to offer lifetime buy option. This can happen if fab or silicon technology used by the device is going to stop operating, for example. But even then you would have the option to estimate the volume through the rest of your design's lifetime, and reserve that amount of units ahead of time.

There are no plans to EOL this device, and even there is a plan to take this device out of NRND in the next 1-2 yrs.

can I make an order for this component in 7 years from now?

(out of NRND, means "ACTIVE" again, or else)

This device will become ACTIVE again in some time, once we have completed a Fab and technology transfer on it (PCNs will be issued when complete).

TI will not EOL the device as long as it still has orders being booked. This device is a high runner, with usage from several major accounts. Barring anything unforeseen the device will remain orderable for the foreseeable future.

as our component official engender said :

"I can’t see this as an official statement since this is an assumption"

so he doesn't let us improvement for using it.

pls. update for any new definition.

(also from some months ago ----the TPS40021--that we use at around 650 different cards)

I see. I have to discuss internally about this. The policy is explained above, but we may need to consult the legal team to provide such a letter of commitment for a period of 10yrs etc...

seems good.

pls. update for any letter.

for example - now we are in layout with 5 different cards ---unfortunately with MPS solution (MP2888)

first card can be with 6 x TPS40140 (2 solutions of 100A--6 phase each).

second , the same

third/forth with (5-6 solutions up to 120A each)---15--18 x TPS40140

fifth - in schematics now.

for quick answer, i can easily replace the solution (copy paste from previous cards)

Our guidelines state that TI standard products are not eligible for obsolescence if any of these three conditions exist:

The product has had any sales within the last five years (seven years for automotive or high-reliability products).
The product can be manufactured and has been in production for less than 10 years.
The product has any current customer demand.

2/3 of these conditions apply to TPS40140 (it is older than 10yrs).

Based on the TPS40140 market demand and product competitiveness we can guarantee that the TPS40140 will be in production for the next ten (10) years."
