UCC28782: ucc28782- dither

Part Number: UCC28782
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC24612, , UCC28780

In reply to Ulrich Goerke:

Hello Ulrich

As usual appreciate your response: right on!

So glad to hear back from you...

Happy New Year BTW.

So we had to hop out of UCC28780/UCC24612 wagon & hitchto UCC28782/MP6908...hope we can handle the dithering events which we will have to test especially for any unforeseen events.

Seems dithering adds unknown stress on UCC24612, so we are following the Eval kit suggestion for MP6908 SR controller.

What is your thought on that?

We have pcbs built with UCC28780 & UCC24612,...if we fix the GND via issue, we can build protos & take to waiting customers. Still looking how to .

BTW: our previous pcb turned out to have 3 vias to GND plane causing all the problems! This time, we are duplicating 28782 eval kit copper plane, placement of critical parts & routing. fyi

  • Hello Robin,

We have found that while the UCC24612 works well in many applications, it has some trouble dealing with the rapidly changing timing of the UCC28782 when the dithering is in operation, so a different SR controller is necessary.

I'm glad that you found the errant vias to GND.  Certainly they would cause all sorts of frustratingly inexplicable behavior until finally discovered.
I hope your next board has no errors and performs as well as the EVM does.

    Regards,

    Ulrich
