BQ4050: BQ4050 as companion fuel gauge for BQ24725 battery charger?

We're using a BQ24725 battery charger, and hoping to put a low-cost fuel gauge in the system as well. We have a 2-cell series Li-Ion battery, 7.4-8.4V, 3200 mAh. There is built-in battery overvoltage/undervoltage/short-circuit protection.

Could you recommend a suitable companion fuel gauge for the BQ24725? We were looking at the BQ4050 as the lowest-cost option, but are willing to spend a little more if there is another fuel gauge that works better with the BQ24725 (avoids duplicating features, etc).
