BQ34Z100-G1: How to set Design Energy parameter for a 512Wh Battery

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

I am confused about Design Energy and Design Energy scale flash parameters, and I need some expert opinion.

We have a 8S LiFePO4 battery pack with the following electrical specifications:

Nominal Voltage: 25.6 V
Recommended Charge Voltage: 29.2V
Nominal Capacity: 20 Ah
Energy: 512Wh

According to SLUA903–July 2018 document from TI, before starting learning cycle we have to define certain parameters. The parameter that is confusing us is the Design Energy!

The Design Energy value, that should be written in to the flash memory, is in mWh unit. Which means that I have to write 512000 mWh in flash location allocated for Design Energy. But according to the  SLUUBW5–July 2018 documentation, the maximum value for this parameter is 32767! So I wanted to use the following combination of configuration:

Design Energy: 25600
Design Energy Scale: 20

But the SLUUBW5–July 2018 documentation states that "The value of Design Energy Scale can be between 1 and 10 only."

Is there any other parameters that Should I modify or are my calculations wrong?

(I have checked the forum and found some related but old threads such as:
BQ34z100-G1 Design Energy, which was for 1S battery,
bq34z100-g1: Use of the 'Design Energy Scale' setting, which states: "The bq34z100-G1 handles calculations at a cell level" but according to the SLUA903-July 2018, it should be set to the nominal capacity of the total pack.)

I would be grateful for your comment to let me know how should I set these parameters?

Thanks in advance,

Nima Salehi
