*7/08/20 UPDATE* The Ethernet Alliance (EA) has issued a press release with GEN 2 program go-live details and has revised their web page accordingly. TI has been very involved in the creation of this program and is excited to see it launch! Customers can also read more about this program by reviewing this blog.
*2/1/19 UPDATE* The IEEE802.3bt standard was published today! You can download the new standard here: https://standards.ieee.org/standard/802_3bt-2018.html. As a reminder, members of the IEEE802.3bt working group get free access immediately. Everyone else has to pay for it within the first 6 months (cost = $194, $155 if IEEE member), after which it is free to everyone.
Yes, there is! Through the Ethernet Alliance (EA), there is a released program to certify your PoE systems. The (EA) is releasing the logos in two "groupings" - also known as "Gen 1 Certification" and "Gen 2 Certification."
Gen 1 is released today and covers up to Class 4 (25.5W at the input to the load). Gen 2 is a work in progress and is tied to the successful publication of the new PoE standard (IEEE 802.3bt). Gen 2 will cover up to Class 8 (71.3W at the input to the load).
