Dear Support

We are working on DRA821 J7 board which has A core and MCU Island. We are looking at data communication from A core (A72) to M core( MCU Island). Please provide let us know is there any OS that can be run on MCU Island if yes please provide more details on compiling and running this OS on MCU Island.

Also we require mechanism on how to communicate between A core (A72) to MCU Island.

Hello Kaushik,

The DRA821 processor is supported by its Processor SDK that includes both Linux for the A72 cores and an RTOS for the R5F cores, both those of the MAIN and MCU domains. Please refer to the RTOS SDK documentation under SDK Components > MCU Software (link). It describes the examples applications of the SDK that include inter-processor communication (IPC) examples between the MAIN and MCU domains.

We are looking at communication from A core to Main Safety MCU(MCU ISland).. Also please provide some documents on how to load image on to Safety MCU which.

I am assuming MAIN MCU is referred to MCU Island.

Hello Kaushik,

We have not developed an IPC channel between A72/Linux and MCU_R5F/RTOS. The path would be A72/Linux–MAIN_R5F/RTOS plus MAIN_R5F/RTOS–MCU_R5F/RTOS_or_Autosar. You may refer to this post that points to the code available in our SDK to implement that.

Hello Kaushik,

I believe that the makefiles of the examples in the SDK generate a bootable eMMC image. You may also load software through the JTAG interface embedded in the EVM (requires a USB cable to your PC) along with our Code Composer Studio IDE (link).
