AM6442: using MCU SDK led example directions on how to flash , execute in place , code shadowing

Hi everybody ,

i m on gpio_led_blink_am64x-evm_m4fss0-0_nortos_ti-arm-clang example to learn how to design on this MCUs .

now I would like to flash in external serial flash and be able to create on version executing in place , and another doing code shadowing ( internal RAM , or DDR ) : coudl you kindly give me directions ?

I see a lot of docs , but I m little lost so help and directions are very welcome

I recommend below steps,

1. Flash the SBL NULL as mentioned here, load your application thru CCS and make sure it works as exepcted

2. Next flash the application to flash as mentioned in below and make sure this works.

Now the code is copied to RAM from FLASH and run

3. Now we can convert this application to XIP mode and flash again, this time the code will execute from FLASH and it wont be copied to RAM

Mainly you need add a MPU entry for R5F to cache the FLASH and enable code execution and you need to modify your linker command file to use FLASH as shown on the page above.

Then you can flash the updated application. The flashing steps remain same as #2
